This before & after is extra special to me -- I've been dying to share it with you! Curating a home is a process and I love seeing it come together piece by piece. This adorable Tudor style home had gorgeous features to work with like hardwood floors and a fireplace with some personality.
My client is a very fun, light-hearted person so we wanted to design a space that is somewhere she can kick back with her husband and relax -- nothing stuffy or impersonal. We layered happy prints and kept the furniture warm and neutral. As the seasons change, she can rotate pillows and throws to keep it fresh.
The materials we selected were important because we wanted to keep it "light and breezy" -- no stress over spills. The rug is actually a printed polyester inspired by antique Turkish rugs. It's super easy to clean with pets and at a price point where you don't feel committed for the next 30 years.
The leather chairs are SO comfortable while also giving the room the personality it craves. We put a lot of thought into the sofa -- I'm a big believer in 8-way hand-tied frames (a true mark of durability and craftsmanship!) so we made sure to specify a frame that was built to last and not sag over time. Kept it classic and natural with a slipcover made of 100% linen.
Here are some before & afters! I get a little too excited to wait for a "full reveal" so we delivered the pieces as they arrived. Final look is at the end!
BEFORE PHOTO
Disclaimer: the mess is 100% mine not the clients! When I go on house calls, I like to bring the whole kit & caboodle! Fabric samples, catalogs, ipad, laptop, seam options...
The primary goal: update the living room seating and while keeping it relaxed. The room is actually pretty wide -- she had an 8x10 natural rug but after measuring, I recommended a larger size (approx. 9x12) to better balance the space. Ultimately, we went with an 8'6" x 11'6" because we fell in LOVE with rug. The extra 18" made a HUGE difference.
OLD SOFA // NEW RUG
So with the larger rug, the end tables fit entirely on the rug which helped ground the space. The rug was meant to be -- as soon as I saw it at market -- I knew it belonged in her home. I'm thankful for her trust in me as it was a brand new and not available for two months...I couldn't even get her a sample! She loved it, I loved it. Looks great in her space!
The Seda Sofa by Cisco Brothers in all it's creamy, natural linen glory! Fabric is Mariet Natural. This is the 7' length. We opted to go the slipcover route -- but it can also be ordered upholstered.
A few more glamour shots...love how the simple linen sofa lets the rug shine.
Love these arms that envelope you in comfort.
A BIG hug and thank you to my client for trusting me with her space -- and letting me share her adorable home with all of you! Editing photos from more projects this week...stay tuned!
