After weeks and weeks of distancing & Zooming, it was such a joy to visit this bathroom transformation in person this week! This project was so dear to me because it was in the same neighborhood that I grew up in. The neighborhood and quiet, beautiful setting outside the city is so relaxing. The master bathroom in this lovely house was just not delivering on space or style!
As we looked at the space, we knew that we wanted to deliver a gorgeous spacious shower! One of our favorite tricks in a small space is to align subway shaped tile vertically. It draws your eye up and makes a small space feel lofty and open. This handmade tile offers lovely variation in color while keeping that sparkling white bathroom feeling.
Our client wanted to modernize the space while honoring the character of this rural home. By aligning the tile vertically & staggering the tile, we strived to play up the "old meets new" style that we naturally gravitate towards!
Black shower fixtures pop against the oyster-like shower tile. Adding every fixture in black felt too high contrast, so we softened the look with nickel hardware on both the vanity and sconces to give the space a feminine, yet clean feeling.
With a smaller footprint, we wanted to keep the design simple and pleasing to the eye. We recommended an interesting tile layout for this slate tile flooring and chose to continue the slate on the shower floor to keep the design from reading too "busy".
A few simple updates made a huge transformation in this 80's inspired bathroom -- We are so thankful to our clients for allowing us to be a part of such a special part of their home.
